Spring Nail Polish 2013 – The endless choices

This spring there are more choices for nail polish colors than ever before it seems.   My year round signature polish has been OPI Lincoln Park After Dark.  But it seems like a good time to mix it up a bit since there are so many options out there.  It really is a quick way to change up your look and nails have a way of translating a message about the wearer from the color choice or nail art to the length and shape of nails.

This is a shot from my Instagram account and I was crossing my fingers as I went in to a meeting.

If I am going to change it up, invariably I find myself going for colors in mushroom tones like this.

But with the variety of colors right now I wanted to explore what people are wearing….

A really cute idea for Valentines Day and as far as I am concerned any time of year as well.

So with all the inspiration out there I guess I should choose something new to mix it up.  Whatever color choices are made there are a few things that will remain the same: A couple of my fav ways to maintain my manicure and hands are to use this fast drying top coat by Seche Vite.  This is the best and when I have my nails done professionally I bring this with me for the manicurist to use… it has helped keep my polish looking good for 10 days and beyond.  http://www.seche.com/

My clever friend Francesca also shared with me one of the creative ways that she loves to use my Heir Atelier Ultimate Make Up Prep facial serum  on her cuticles to keep them conditioned because it absorbs quickly and isn’t oily like so many cuticle creams.  So I tried it as well and it really does help keep your manicured hands looking their best plus the scent is a bonus as well.   heiratelier.com

I don’t know why I didn’t think of it myself as it is so common for Make Up Artists to mix and re-purpose products all of the time.  But now that Francesca shared that with me I am hooked on using it on my cuticles too.

  1. Kendra – what is the Essie “mushroom” color you like?. I have “Smokin Hot” but it seems more grey. Love your emails. Lillian

    • Actually the “mushroom” color I have worn is OPI also, it’s You dont know Jacques.. but this is an image that I like the color for so I included it.

  2. It is hard to pick , I like Ombre right now but I liked the navy best.

    • Thanks for sharing. Completely agree Heather, it is hard to pick! I am still on the hunt for the perfect Navy/Midnight Blue… might have to mix my own if I cant find it. LMK if you have any suggestions

      • You may try out Butter in Royal navy.

  3. Great, thank you! I will check it out for sure. I don’t know why blue is so tricky but it has been for me. Really appreciate your suggestion.

  4. Hello,

would you happen to know the names of the polishes in the Gorgeous shades of pink, orange and coral nail polish colors?
    i love them!

    Thanks!

    • Hi Jane,
They are gorgeous shades I agree. I dont know which polishes were used in those photos though, so sorry. I have some colors by Zoya I believe is the name of the polish that have beautiful bright pinks and oranges, that may be a start. When I get back in the country and am home I can look at which specific colors and polishes they are. I will be doing another Summer Nails story too so keep a look out for that one too. Thank you xx

  5. French tips and clear nails -clean look I think :)

  6. Hey! I love your nail paints … I know I’m a guy and saying this ..It’s quite wired
btw I love that “Mixed matte and shiny black nails courtesy of Chloe’s Nails” it gorgeous !
can u tell me where can I buy these for my girlfriend ? and how to apply it?
    thanks xx

    • Sorry I cant give you specifics on the nails here, it’s really an inspiration post and as a make up artist I am into the details but I am not an expert manicurist or well versed in how to get all of these looks. YOu might try a professional nail salon for more help. Matte nails are an upcoming trend and there are top coats that give you a matte finish to whatever polish you use. Try googling them for more info. Hope that helps a little and thanks for letting me know how much you liked the post!
